Women's Democratic League of Frederick County

Regular meetings are held the 3rd Wednesday of the month at Perkins Restaurant, 5200 Holiday Dr., Frederick.  Dinner is at 6:00 P.M., followed by a business meeting and speaker at 7:00 P.M. Meetings generally conclude by 8:30 P.M. 

The club is open to all women who are registered Democrats in the Frederick County area.  Dues are $10 per year, payable in January.

The goals of the Women’s Democratic League are to affiliate more women with the Democratic Party, create greater interest in politics, promote better understanding of local, state and national issues, and assist is electing Democrats to office.

The WDL actively supports Democratic candidates running for local, county, state and national office and raises money for and contributes to their general election campaigns. In addition, members volunteer and campaign for individual candidates on the Democratic Party Ticket.  The League plays a major role in staffing the Democratic Party tent during the Frederick Country Fair and ‘waves the Democratic Party banner' in other city and local events such as carnivals, "In the Streets" and parades.  The Women's Democratic League also invites all candidates to address the club and, beginning in January 2008, it will focus on campaign issues that most affect our lives with a different issue up for discussion each month.

 The Women's Democratic League is committed to becoming more visible in the community and is currently investigating opportunities for service projects that will benefit needy members of the Frederick County community.  Efforts are also underway to reach out to other groups and organizations within Frederick County with the hope of building a membership that better reflects the values and diversity of the Democratic Party.
